Whatever the health condition, it’s probably best, in most cases, to seek the advice of more than one health care professional.
After all, another opinion can change a treatment plan or diagnosis about 30 percent of the time, according to an early February story on MSNBC.com. Even more compelling, a recent study found that second opinions changed surgery recommendations for breast cancer patients in more than 50 percent of the cases, the story said.
However, the story mentions that only about half of Americans get second opinions, which are especially important in one of the following situations:
- When surgery is suggested, as there might be less invasive options
- If the condition is not getting better
- If medications, with side effects, are prescribed for long-term use
In many cases, there are several alternative practitioners who can help patients find safe, natural approaches to health care. It might be a good idea to consult with chiropractors, acupuncturists, naturopaths or other alternative providers that recommend enzyme therapy, nutritive supplements or lifestyle changes for improved health.
As a safe alternative to NSAIDs, steroids and prescription medications, which often carry with them the risk of side effects, enzyme-based nutritional products can provide support for cardiovascular, colon, joint and digestive health, as well as several other concerns. Enzyme-based products also can provide anti-inflammatory support to help speed healing.
What’s more, nutritive enzyme supplements provide vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants that can contribute to total body health and vitality. Digestive enzymes, in particular, can help the body better absorb nutrients and maintain a healthy immune system.
