NSAIDs fail to deliver brain benefits PDF Print E-mail

Results of a government study indicate a prescription and over-the-counter drug offer no brain-protecting benefits, according to a mid-May Associated Press story.

Researchers theorized that the painkillers, Celebrex and Aleve, might prevent Alzheimer’s through reduced inflammation. The study, however, showed the two drugs did nothing to slow or halt mental decline, the story said.

Celebrex and Aleve fall under the category of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), which have been shown to cause potential heart and stomach problems.

For natural pain relief without the dangerous side effects of NSAIDs, there are several products in the WellZymes™ line of enzyme supplements that offer support for pain associated with inflammation. Products include WellZymes™ Joint Health, Protease and Infla-Min.™

In addition, WellZymes™ Mental Focus™ contains anti-inflammatory enzymes, along with rejuvenating herbs, to help older adults maintain memory, concentration and energy. Mental Focus™ helps maintain blood flow and sufficient amounts of neurotransmitters in the brain.
